In August 2017 OptiMedis-COBIC UK were appointed as part of a consortium to support the 40 practices and other health and care organisations to develop as an Accountable Care System to serve the 200,000 people of Fareham and Gosport, Hampshire.
The initial stages of work have involved building local relationship and obtaining and analysing data to identify the best opportunities for improving health and value. The area has been identified by NHS England as a “Vanguard” to develop and pilot new models of care that might be adopted by the whole NHS in England.
On 7th November, Dr Nicholas Hicks and Andrew Smith attended a seminar at which the Fareham and Gosport Vanguard and the Isle of Wight presented their progress to Don Berwick, famed for his leadership of the Instititue of Health Improvement in the USA and Professor Chris Ham, Chief Executive of The Kings Fund, London one of the UK’s leading health policy organisations. Credit must go the local staff who have made great strides particularly in preventive care in the community and the development of new ways of enabling citizens to receive high quality primary care on the day they need it.
